Keynsham Life Saving Club members learn to save lives!

During our weekly training sessions you'll learn how to deal with life-threatening first-aid emergencies such as choking, bleeding and medical shock; and how to help someone who's fallen unconscious or has stopped breathing. You'll also learn specialised water-rescue skills: learning how to keep yourself safe and how to assist swimmers in difficulty.

Our members can work towards Royal Lifesaving Society awards, including Rookie Lifeguard (the junior award scheme aimed at children aged 8-12 years) and the National Lifesaving Academy programme (aimed at lifesavers aged 12 to Adult). The club offers a rolling programme of training so new members can join any time without worrying about missing the start of a course. Once lifesavers reach the required standard we enter them for assessment when they're ready.

Club members also have the opportunity to enter lifesaving competitions at other clubs - this is a great way to practice real-life skills in simulated incidents. We also run open-water trips to the local rivers and lakes, and to Bournemouth beach so that you can put your skills into practice in a real environment.
